In Need of an Update

Remember when I used to think in blog? Like, oh, this will be so funny to post. I kind of forgot that I had one, but now that I've remembered I thought I'd update you on my first grader. Ya, I have a child going into first grade. I'm pretty sure it's not real and it will never happen. It's going to be summer forever, mostly because I've been waiting so long for it to come, and if it didn't last forever that would just be unfair, and the world is totally fair, all the time right?

Moving on from my state of delusion, Jackson's last days/weeks of school were pure party town. Every day was a new fun day like ice cream day and astronaut day crazy day and cowboy day. I loved the day he came home in his cowboy gear. Hayden and Jackson ran around in this costume for days.
Jackson also got to do his very first diorama. They had to choose an animal and he chose a pig. He had a great time with his daddy putting it together. (I don't do art type things - they stress me out. Just ask my mother and the trauma I experienced with these types of things as a child. I did help cut out some pigs though.) It was so fun to go to his school and see him in his classroom. He was so proud of himself and even gave his teacher (who is smiling in the background) one of his prized precious spotted pigs.

His school had a fitness fair one night and Jackson and Hayden loved it. They spend most of the time riding scooters around the bike rodeo and then Jackson spent the rest of the time playing hockey. My camera died so I have no record him playing hockey, but he had a blast. He just might have some competitiveness in there somewhere.

During the last week of school Jackson's school held a dance festival. It was so funny to see the kindergartners dance to splish splash. Jackson was so excited and talked about it for days. He got to wear his swim suit to school and his water wings and his new glasses. When Hayden saw Jackson attire, he had to wear his swimsuit too, so he went around all day with his swimsuit on and his goggles looking like a headband. And finally, Kindergarten graduation. I still can't believe he's done and it's been two weeks. Jackson loved Kindergarten, loved his teacher, loved school. It was so great. He did a great job during his graduation and had so much fun showing me his portfolio of projects during the year. Luckily he still gets to see his teacher and say hi because I get to teach her daughter piano lessons, which is a big compliment to Jackson because as we know around here, if the teacher doesn't like the kid, why would you want anything to do with their parents? Good job Jackson! I'll try to make the summer as fun as kindergarten. Ok, just kidding, that's probably impossible.
